Caitlin Wood for IWD: ‘Hard work does not have a gender’

Writer: Mihika BhanMihika Bhan

26-year-old Australian racing driver and coach, Caitlin Wood, is the first Australian woman to have won at the Nurburgring Nordschleife. The ambition to fuel her spirit and the intrinsic drive to last her for miles on the track has been demonstrated in her participation in the inaugural all-women F3 championships, W Series, European GT4 Championships, and Blancpain GT Series in a GT3 Lamborghini.

Actively using her voice and personal experiences as a jumping-off point to strongly advocate for the inclusion of more women into Motorsport and diversity, her key messages in her speeches include risk-taking, bravery, and a hard-working attitude. Potent with passion and able to inspire such motivations in her audience, while dispersing misbeliefs of a woman’s capabilities on the track, Caitlin Wood’s tenacity was born from the age of 7 when she began karting after watching her brothers for years. Originally in the pursuit of causing her chaos and fun, it grew into her everlasting passion, leading her to compete in the junior ranks of Australian Motorsport before moving alone to the other side of the world at 18 years old to chase after her dreams at full speed. Her goal remains to be the first Australian woman to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Cheering to the capability of a woman on the track, more recognized now than ever, Power Her Drive wishes high speeds and podiums to each talented, formidable racer who will make their mark on motorsports! Happy International Women’s Day to those who never gave up on their dreams, and created impacts large enough to help others reach theirs through their motorsports journeys!
